Vintage French 18K Gold, Platinum & 3+ Carat Diamond Nautilus Brooch
A spectacular French brooch from the 1940s–1950s, designed as an abstract, stylized nautilus with sweeping sculptural curves and a distinctly glamorous mid-century presence. Crafted in rich 18K yellow gold and platinum, the brooch is set with over 3 carats of old-cut and rose-cut diamonds.
A dramatic cluster of chunky old-cut diamonds crowns one side, while delicate rows of rose-cut diamonds sweep through the central platinum detail. Additional old-cut diamonds are scattered across the polished gold in beautiful starburst settings, creating flashes of light throughout the sculptural design.
Substantial at 27.4 grams and nearly 6 cm in length, this is an exceptional statement jewel with wonderful scale, movement and presence—a striking example of French mid-century design.
